Read For My School is a national schools reading competition that promotes reading and philanthropy by challenging pupils to read as many books as possible across two months of the spring term. Throughout the competition there are prizes and awards to be won for schools and pupils taking part.

Read for My School will run from 19th January to 20th March 2015 and is open to all children in Years 3 to 8 throughout England.

Pupils are encouraged to read as many and as wide a range of books as they can in the two months of the competition. The Read For My School website includes an updated library of over 150 online books to choose from and all participants can access these freely throughout the competition. Books to suit the full range of reading abilities are available, including material for pupils with SEN. The books are organised in eight genre-categories and pupils are encouraged to aim to read at least one book in each category. Pupils may also choose to read any book of their choice offline and a list of recommended reads are submitted by publishers across the country and chosen by an independent panel of children’s book experts. Pupils are asked to log each book that they read in their pupil account. If you have any questions about Read For My School, please email liz.wilson@dartmouthacademy.org.uk.
