On 19th January 2015, Dartmouth Academy played against Kingsbridge CC in the first round of the Devon Cup. This was the Year 7's first fixture since their successful performance at the Devon 5-a-side Festival. Their lack of form told in the first 5 minutes, conceded 3 goals in quick succession. After a swift change in formation, Dartmouth looked much stronger and were finally playing some football in the KCC half. Ben Clark showed a change of pace down the right wing and laid it off nicely to Jordan Caple, who nestled the ball into the roof of the net to make it 3-1. After half time, Dartmouth conceded again. This time the shot was deflected away from Liam Harrison, who had previously made some excellent saves. Dartmouth then attacked, as Caleb Hobson escaped his marker only to be fouled on the edge of the area. Jordan Caple stepped up to take the free kick and drilled it into the bottom right corner to make it 4-2. Unfortunately, Dartmouth ended the way they began, conceded 3 goals to leave the score at 7-2. Man of the Match went to Caleb Hobson. There is certainly room for improvement from this team but the potential is there. Re-match against Kingsbridge CC will hopefully see an improved result!
