Children in Class 2/3C have been reading Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and were recently tasked with writing a piece entitled 'The Chocolate River' inspired by the story. Here are some of the best pieces written by the children, where they imagine what it would be like to visit the Chocolate River themselves: At last I opened the chocolate room doors with excitement. I couldn’t believe my eyes, I crept in. I walked down and I could see a wonderful runny chocolate waterfall, it was like mud. I was shaking like thunder, then, what’s that noise? It was glistening bubbles popping. I dipped my hand in the hot river and I had a little taste. The chocolate was as bubbly as a bubble bath. It tasted like ice melting in my mouth. It was soft, I didn’t need to chew it. I walked a little further and I could see a beautiful meadow. I broke of a piece of candy cane and my face went red. I also could see sugar fizzy leaves, I had a nibble it tasted like sour sweets! By Chloe Hook As I was waiting for the chocolate doors to open I smelt a wondrous smell of chocolate. When I walked in I saw Willy Wonka and his Oompa Loompas. The Oompa Loompas had shiny yellow jackets on them. Just then I saw a river, it was dirty mud, as I got closer I realised it was melted chocolate. Then I picked a piece of minty grass.

There are pipes as shiny as silver, gold and glass. The Buttercups are like lemon drops and sugar. The trunk of the trees are candy canes, so I licked a bit, yum! Suddenly, I heard the grass crunching under my feet like an egg cracking open. I picked a bit of candy cane and tried a bit. Then I tried a Toffee Apple, I loved it so I had another and another one. I scooped up some of the chocolate. The chocolate is as brown as a cup of steamy tea. You can eat everything except the air and the clouds. The waterfall is hot like an oven. By Lola Stoyle. I was standing next to the chocolate river and it was so lush, creamy, bubbly and yummy! At last I saw the chocolate room it was so amazing and I was to eat it. The chocolate river is so steamy and hot, so golden and fresh, reflective like the sun. The chocolate river is boiling like hot chocolate. The chocolate river also looks like hot coffee and is sweet, delicious and tasty! By Rylee Guess. Suddenly the room door opened, I was amazed because I could see a chocolate river. It was crashing like thunder. I dipped my hand in to the chocolate river. I licked the chocolate and it was as shiny as liquid gold. I could see trees with gold apples! By Alfie Wood.
