Children in Need sees staff and students becoming super heroes for the day!
Last Friday, 14th November, staff and students once again celebrated Children in Need Day in style whilst raising money for disadvantaged children. The annual fundraising event organised by the BBC is now in its 34th year and has raised over £600 milllion to change the lives of disabled children and young people in the UK. This year, the theme was super heroes and more staff and students than ever dressed up whilst each making a donation. There were some creative and adventurous costumes, including Mr Hindmarsh dressing as Richard the Lionheart, Mr Bakewell as Captain Underpants and Ms Print dressed as her super hero, suffragette Emellne Pankhurst. Children in the primary phase also brought in homemade cakes for a cake sale at the end of the day. The sale managed to raise around £160 in just 15 minutes! The total raised this year by the Academy was £567.71 which will be added to the Children in Need total of £32.6 million so far. Thank you to all the parents, students and staff that supported this worthwhile cause.
