Dartmouth Academy students participate in Stoke Fleming Christmas Tree Festival

Last weekend, 12th-14th December, Dartmouth Academy once again participated in the annual Stoke Fleming Christmas Tree Festival. The festival, held at Stoke Fleming's St Peter's Church, has become a seasonal spectacle not to be missed. During the three day festival, the church was filled with 28 Christmas trees donated by local garden centre, Garden Time, and each tree is decorated by a different local organisation or group.

This year, Dartmouth Academy's tree was decorated with the theme of Visual Arts and Maths, the Academy's specialisms. Special clubs were held at the Academy where students combined their skills learnt in Art & Design and Maths to create decorations for the tree whilst exploring links between the subjects.Sixth Form volunteers decorated the tree in St Peter's with great enthusiasm. Director of Learning, Nicola Perrott said, "It is a delight to participate in this festive community event."

Sixth Form student, Leah Sharam added, "It was great fun decorating the tree and talking about how many people would recognise how beautiful Maths can be."

All the money raised at the event goes towards the Dartmouth and District Indoor Pool as well as St Peter's Church.
