Excellent performances from Academy students in Table Tennis Area Final
On 15th January Dartmouth Academy hosted Ivybridge Community College for the Year 8/9 Table Tennis area final.
This involved 4 students from each school competing individually against their respective seeded opponents, best of 3 games.
Ralph Ryder eased past his opponent 2-0, showing off a variation of shots and controlling the service well. Ollie Smith played as the number 1 seed and came up against a tough opponent; losing out 2-1 despite playing some fantastic winning shots. Adam Callard played the percentages well and forced errors from his opponent to win 2-0.
This put Dartmouth Academy in a great position and it was down to Tom Daw to seal the win. In a match that went down to the final game, Tom managed to overturn a match point to win 13-11, 2-1 overall.
The boys have earned a spot in the county finals in March as a result of this win and they are certainly driving up expectations of table tennis at Dartmouth Academy.
