Great team effort from Year 8 footballers
On 22nd January 2015, Dartmouth Academy Year 8 Football team travelled to KEVICC in Totnes. This was the first round of the cup and Dartmouth were up for a good game.
The first 10 minutes saw Dartmouth on the push forward but a counter attack from KEVICC led to a corner, and KEVICC's first opportunity of the game. The corner was headed away but KEVICC managed to get it back into the box and scramble it into the back of the net.
20 minutes into the game and Dartmouth had conceded 2 more from set pieces, despite some fantastic goalkeeping from Josh Rogers. Dylan Griffiths came on to strengthen the defence and alongside Owen Elwell and Ben Bruckner, Dartmouth managed to hold strong at the back for the remainder of the game. After half time Dartmouth were back on the attack. Connor Francis made runs with the ball down the line and Max Prettyjohns supported him on the other wing. Connor took it on himself, but found his shot blocked out for a corner. Lewis Brown took the corner with spin and Max Prettyjohns controlled the ball in the box and scored. This gave Dartmouth the confidence to push forward and give themselves several opportunities against this tough opposition, but the whistle blew too soon at 3-1 to KEVICC. Well done to the whole team! It has made some excellent progress since last year. Players that stood out included Max Prettyjohns, Owen Elwell and Josh Rogers. Ben Bruckner was voted as man of the match for his performance at right back. Well deserved!
