Resilience pays off for Year 9 netball team!
On Wednesday 28th January, the Academy's Year 9 Netball team travelled to Stoodley Knowle School to play in their second tournament of the year. After picking up some new players this year, the team were: Freya Bradley, Bronwyn Jones, Georgia Hammoudeh-Webb, Charlotte Flavell, Katie Stevens, Julie Venelle and Toni Curtis. The team had a great start and won their first game against Brixham College 4-3. Goals scored by Toni Curtis and Bronwyn Jones. This was the first match the team have won in a school tournament! They played against Paignton College and then Cuthbert Mayne - narrowly missing out on another win and losing 5-4. The final match played was against Trinity School. After a tough few games the team managed to keep their spirits high, work well together and win the game 9-3! All goals scored by Toni Curtis. After training every week, playing in a range of tournaments the girls have won their first netball matches! Great dedication and resilience shown by all players. Player of the tournament was Toni Curtis - Well done Toni!!
