Back to school, Cadets!

On Thursday 23rd April, Dartmouth Academy’s Year 5 and 6 children received a pleasant surprise; cadets from Britannia Royal Naval College had come to treat them to a variety of fun activities instead of lessons. The children were all very excited. The Year 5 and 6 children were split into groups of five, with two cadets for each group. They were asked to give their group the name of their favourite animal. Each child was given a sticker to draw the animal and write their name on. Megan in Year 6 said, “My favourite part was the sports because it let your competitive side show.” Kieron, also in Year 6 said, “My favourite part was putting up the ‘bivvies’ (tents) because it taught you about the conditions that cadets have to sometimes live in.” Year 5/6 were also given some Maths and English challenges but the cadets made sure they were fun! The action-packed day ended with certificates being presented to all the children and a large group photo was taken of everyone together. By Amber Sanders, Year 6
